I have come as light into the world
–Jesus (John 12:46)
Thoughts on the verse
Jesus says to us "I have come as light into the world so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness." He continues with his teaching, making it clear that our only requirement is simply belief.
Believe what He says and accept His words and teachings as a part of your life and you will be saved.
Thoughts on the design
This design has boxed nested one inside another with Jesus' words in the center. When I think of the life and ministry of Jesus I think about how it started small, in his own "box" of his hometown Nazareth and how it radiated outward from there. His first responsibility was to the Jews, his own people, but He always had in mind that there would be more to His ministry. Indeed, during the short years of His ministry He did not limit his interactions to the Jews along
After rising from the dead but before leaving earth for heaven Jesus gives this often-repeated direction to his disciples in Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Jerusalem, a city, the center of Jewish life. Judea, a great geographic region where the Jews live. Samaria, the hated enemies who are truly more like cousins being that they are half-Jewish. and then "to the ends of the earth." There is no one that doesn't include!
So I think of us, filled with power and light from Jesus, beginning our ministry in our first "box," our homes, and then letting our light shine forth from there to all the other places we can have an effect on.
Thoughts on type
The type is set in Future light. I wanted something geometric and light feeling (the verse is about light after all!). One of the cutest things about Futura is that the dot on the "i" is a perfect circle!
Thoughts on color
As you might expect, I have chosen bright light-saturated colors for this art. The text on each is the same as the background color, which is also the brightest color on the piece.
