Bite-size Book Review: The Happiness Advantage

Posted by Shopify API on

Somewhere along the way in my reading and listening to business-y things I heard this book recommended. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was more applicable to all of life, and not just small-business life. I kind of have a thing for books about happiness and habits and such so this was right up my alley. review-image-Happiness.jpg

Title & author:

The Happiness Advantage: How a Positive Brain Fuels Success in Work and Life by Shawn Achor.

What it's about:

Achor cheerfully compiles and explains all the current research on what makes humans happier and how exactly it improves our life. He is great at giving practical application too.

Who it's for:

Anyone who want to be happy. Pessimists who don't believe they can change and be happier (oh yes you can!). Managers and bosses.

What I liked:

I am all about having a positive attitude and this book just confirmed my belief that our minds and our thoughts are shockingly powerful. He described a study where blindfolded people were told their arm was being rubbed with poison ivy. They all broke out in a rash even though the leaf used was not poison ivy!

What I didn't:

No complaints.

My take-away:

Being happy is powerful and possible. Read how and why!
